35th ANNIVERSARY BARBIE GIFTSET~REPRODUCTION OF THE ORIGINAL 1959~NRF NEAR MINT AND SEALED BOX. Condition is "New".
Here is for you this magnificent barbie set, if you were not able to ever see the original in 1959….it’s precious and brings so many nostalgic memories. The most famous American Teenage Fashion Model ever, looking just as she did in 1959, when the world of Barbie Dolls has just began! Her original ensemble, called Roman Holiday from 1959 (#968), comes with one of the rarest of all accessories-her tiny brass compact and a tiny pink puff! This smart outfit includes a belted dress with a matching red and white ribbed coat with red lining and gold buttoned front, and a red straw cord half-hat with a bow in the back. In her white plastic purse she carries black rimmed glasses in a plastic case, plastic comb and hankie. Other accessories included a lovely “pearl” on a chain necklace, white shirt tricot gloves, and black open-toe shoes. The other most desirable Barbie doll outfit from 1959, called Easter Parade (#971), is the apple print, polished cotton sheath dress, combined with a black faille spring coat. The back gathers into the yoke and the big patch pockets have self-bow accents. Her headband hat is a simple bow fashioned from silk organza. Other accessories included a black patent look clutch bag, graduated “pearl” necklace, matching earrings, shirt white tricot gloves, and black open-toe pumps. Barbie comes dressed in her famous black and white with stripes signature swim-suit, that we the baby boomers can recognize. Her face is the face of that era, with her beautiful eyes looking side ways, the scarlet red lips, the gorgeous blonde ponytail with thick bangs that frame her face.
Now is a perfect time to start a Barbie doll collection for a special little girl in your life…..or for the special little girl in you!
I’m the only owner, so i know she has been away from the light, in a pet and smoke free environment and in a climate controlled temperature…… She is 28 years old gift-set, and is in an almost perfect box; no scratches in the perfect window, and a crease on 2 of the sides of the box (it shows more with camera light, it’s not bad) (pics 6 and 7).
