Description
Porsche 928Porsche 928's first rolled off the assembly line in 1978. The initial run was limited to 1328 cars. This car is #1094 of that run. The collectibility of the 928 has been on the rise in recent years!
HISTORY OF THIS CAR: This car was imported from Europe in 1984. European speedometer was replaced, (approx 55k km), with an American speedometer, (34k mi). That means the car has 70-80k miles on it. Remaining gauges/labels are all in German. How cool is that?!?! Car sat for 5yrs and was purchased by my boss's father in law. He did the work to get it running. I drove it on and off for 7yrs. Gaskets were dried up from sitting so I always planned on having the motor gone through at some point.
The body was redone in 1997 and color was upgraded to a newer Porsche paint that was a lighter brown. The color was a 1984 Porsche color.
I got married and the car was parked and put on the back burner....KIDS ARE EXPENSIVE!!! It has always been covered and in a garage. Car has never seen snow since I have owned it and barely saw rain. The car ran prior to being parked. Every year when I would take it out of storage and start it, the thing fired right off. It wouldn't even turn over. My dad would shake his head and say "This car is unreal".
Prior to storage, the car had a couple of issues arise.
Exhaust started to get LOUD and needs to be replaced.
One of the fuel injectors stopped working. I took it to a shop and had a long conversation with the mechanic. He said if I was going to have the motor gone through to replace gaskets, take care of the injector at that time.
I had a brake hose that failed. Mechanic again recommended taking care of it when I have the motor gone through. It does still have some brakes, though I would not trust them in rush hour traffic! The brakes did stop the car on my sloped driveway.
The interior is in decent shape considering the age of the car. Drivers seat has some wear and there are 2 cuts in the passenger seat. The dash has a couple of sun cracks. Aftermarket radio and speakers were installed after the car came to the US.
The car was titled in Wisconsin and passed emissions test as a "Grey Market" vehicle.
I have a folder of extensive paperwork on repairs to the car since 1984. Owner's Manual is included!!!
Unfortunately, the time has come for me to move on from this car. Kid is going to college and I need to help fund that endeavor.
I posted as many pictures as allowed. If you have a question, please reach out PRIOR to bidding on the car! I will answer and and all questions as soon as possible and will deliver more detailed pictures if needed and/or requested.
Car is in garage and my house has sold. It will need to be moved within 7-9 days after completion of auction.
