    Description
    1950 Willys Jeep
As the sound of incoming helicopters vibrates through the smoky air, a gaggle of army personnel and doctors' rushes to do triage on incoming wounded from the battle field. Some run, some ride in Jeeps with primitive gurneys on them, all having the goal of saving a young soldier's life. War is senseless, war is hell, why can't we all just get along and realize we are all different but inherently good?
Good Morning Vietnam! For consignment the look of the battlefield with this 1950 Willys Jeep which is a civilian version of the Jeeps that were used on the battlefield. It has the battlefield swagger and presents as original thanks to being garage kept by the same owner for 45 years. Now in satin green with a black canvas covered front cab compartment and sides. It sports the extra options of a back seat, a passenger's bucket, side steps, dual rear taillights all a in full metal jacket. A presentable example. Bang! Bang!
    Exterior
The beneficiary of a redux in the past, the satin green covered panels that make up the body tub present evidence of body filler throughout and the addition of diamond plating on the lower body between the fenders. Let's call it a 20-footer folks. Throughout the Willys badge shows up having been embossed into the steel and now painted green. A simple black steel bar bumper frames the lower part of the iconic vertical ribbed grille with a single round headlight on either corner. Squared off fenders are on the front and black vinyl removable doors with zip down windows is the norm for this early version of the truck. Step ups are below the driver and passenger opening at the base of the fenders, and on the back are dual taillights. All wheels are 15-inch steel wheels and are painted black, all wrapped in heavily dry rotted radial tires that are overdue for replacing. Optioned on is a complete canvas top and canvas door covering for the passengers. This shows in black and has heavily fogged plastic windows throughout with the canvas showing light degrees of wear. On the back we note in lieu of the bumper is a tow bar with a right-side mounted ball. A pronounced lean toward the driver's side is noted but from the exterior nothing appears to be causing this. Ten Hut!
    Interior
Utilitarian but noble looking, all bathed in black for the painted steel dash and interior panels. Indoor/outdoor black carpeting covers the floors, and black vinyl buckets are nice and tight on tubular framing seat structures. Out back is a carpeted storage area for your gear or possibly make use of the room to haul POWs back to camp. The gauge cluster is a lineup of round black faced gauges with white lettering, but the speedometer is missing leaving an open hole. Also of interest are black leatherette boots for the parking brake and shift levers. A black original bakelite steering wheel is in front of the driver and looking good with a faux leather rim cover. Sir YES SIR!
    Drivetrain
A swing upward of the hinged hood and it reveals the factory 134ci inline 4-cylinder all fully restored. This mill is still firing off of a 6-volt electrical system and is fed by a 1-barrel carburetor, and in back is a Borg Warner T90 3-speed manual transmission. The axles work off of a hefty 5.38 gear, and hence giving us the high rev sound of one of these coming at you, sounding like it's in a perpetual first gear. Hit IT!!!
    Undercarriage
A healthy dose of surface rust covers nearly every inch of the undercarriage. Invasive rust is noted on the flooring which has been patched from the top side, however the frame remains solid. Leaf springs are the norm for the suspension as are drum brakes all around. A single exhaust snakes its way from the mill to a right rear exit after passing through a new muffler.
    Drive-Ability
My partner in crime grabbed our groover, and entrenching tool and we were off to the test track. After a quick fire up, it got out there in the wilds and performed beautifully. Smooth high rev acceleration, good handling and drive like a 1950 4-wheel drive truck.
A real time piece, ready to be taken to the next level or enjoyed as it for its functionality and definitely an eye catcher that could take on many forms with the canvas on or off. 2-wheel or 4-wheel drive early version of the Jeep, ready to take you just about anywhere you mind can imagine.
